Gustavo Dantas Magnani

Gustavo Dantas was born in Niteroi and grew up in Petropolis, Rio de Janeiro. In Brazil he played with groups such as Francis Drake, Carlos Watkins and Vittor Santos Orchestra ranging in styles from Rock to Samba. In 1990 he moved to Europe. Gustavo lived in Vienna for several years. In Europe he has performed and recorded with artists like Roots Godwana, George Mulindwa, Bassist Angus Thomas (Miles Davis/Buddy Miles), Ric Toldon, Black Soul Reggae Band, Moses, Rootsman, Ronnie Urini, Dubble Standart, Prince Zeka, Jon Sass, Noiseshaper, Yta Moreno, Wetcookies and many others. In 1999 Gustavo moved to New York and has recorded and performed with artists like Curtis Fowlkes, DK Dyson, Jorge Amorim e Tribo, Choro Ensemble, Dom Salvador, Ogans, Mike Ellis, Marco Granados, Joana Santos, Davi Vieira, Arthur Dutra and many more. Since coming to New York, Gustavo has performed at venues like Bam Cafe, Joe's Pub, Knitting Factory, Zinc Bar, Jazz Standard, SOB's, Cafe Wah, CBGB's, Tonic and Carnegie Hall.
