Bass bug bit Jukka Haavisto hard in his early year of elementary school upon hearing Geddy Lee of Rush,Jaco Pastorius and a local bass player Jussi Kosonen. Jukka started playing bass at the age of 8 and has not put down the instrument since. As his musical tastes expanded quickly to jazz, fusion, R&B, rock and more. It became clear to him he needed to be come professional musician.

Jukka has degrees from Conservatory and University of Applied Sciences in pop & jazz-music. He now works on a Masters Degree in Music Performance Jazz- improvisation at University of Stavanger, Norway.

Location: Helsinki/Finland and Stavanger/Norway

Day gig: I’m full-time bass player, working as a freelancer and in several bands.

Years experience: Over 20 years

Bands & Gigs: Beat, Bass & Bone, I'm composer and player Humus, I'm playing live shows Bel Vel, where I’m a player and co-writer. With Bel Vel, we recorded our first album last december. The CD is out now.

He is working as session player and he have jazz-improvisation trio with drummer and trombonist.

He can proudly say that he is the first call bass player to many of his musician friends.

Jukka Haavisto, born March, 1981 in Järvenpää, Finland. Jukka is a master bassist, composer; he studied at University of Stavanger, Institute of Music and Dance and graduated in 2016. He is known for his electric fretless bass technique, his blend of Jazz, Fusion and World Music Fusion improvisation skills and compositions. Jukka is an endorser of the Aguilar Amplication and he is part of the Maruszczyk Instruments family. Jukka is ready to work in sessions, concerts and tours in Scandinavia, Europe and Finland
