Album Description

Cadence Jazz Records has released a new CD, High & Outside by the HMC Trio (Jimmy Halperin - tenor sax, Don Messina - double bass, and Bill Chattin - drums) recorded live in concert. This CD is a follow-up and companion album to the trio's Cycle Logical (CJR1142) recording from 2001. High & Outside was recorded one year after Cycle Logical, when the trio was performing regularly between 2000 and 2004: this CD nails it! The trio improvises through standards; lines by Charlie Parker, Lennie Tristano, Warne Marsh, Lee Konitz, Ted Brown; as well as a Halperin original. The entire concert is included. Liner notes by Don Messina and Jimmy Halperin; mastered by Garry Rindfuss, produced by Bob Rusch; and dedicated to Sal Mosca and Ted Brown.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
