Album Description

Toronto based Kathleen Gorman's second studio recording, this album is an exciting and intimate collection of lush jazz arrangements of classic songs by Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Elvis, plus Billie Holiday, as well as haunting solo piano originals and a beautiful reharm of " Over The Rainbow ". " Influence " is an original quintet piece, featuring the horns, in swingy 7/4 / 6/4 meter, reminiscent of Blue Note recordings from the late 1950s. This album showcases Gorman as pianist-composer, vocalist- arranger, and she leads a group of top flight players from the Toronto jazz scene.
