Immanuel Witschi

After 9 years study of classical piano by Hansjoerg Weltin with additional jazz improvisation courses and the participation as a singer boy at the Zurcher Saengerknaben Immanuel Witschi joined the Bernhard Spirig Big-Band first as a saxophonist (his 2nd instrument) and then as the regular pianist of the group for 7 years giving concerts in Switzerland and abroad.

For 2 more years he joined the Zurich University Big-Band and attended private lessons with Pianist Stefan Stahel and Vince Benedetti until he took part in the Generations 2000 Masterclass in Frauenfeld (CH).

After finishing the studies with the degree of a New Media Designer at the Hochschule fuer Gestaltung und Kunst Zurich he became resident pianist and technician at the Theatre Johana in Zurich and beside that he took part in productions of the Salon Theatre Herzbaracke and did concerts with his instant jazz combo in the Cafe Memphis in Zurich.

2009 Immanuel Witschi held his first fully improvised solo concert in his atelier before he continued a year later with 2 show projects for the Salon Theatre Herzbaracke and weekly bar piano performances at the L'heure bleue cafe in Zurich.

2011 he becomes a professional musician by quitting his career as a web programmer and project manager and gives in July his 2nd fully improvised solo concert in the Café Apart in Zurich.
