Itai Dattner

Itai Dattner is a composer and pianist from Israel. His roots are in classical music. He was introduced to jazz in his youth and was influenced by different styles from Bach through Debussy to Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett, from traditional Jewish hymns to world music, Blues and Rock 'n' Roll.

Itai has just released the first CD of his Cuban project Tranquilo en Cuba. This CD is the first step in a project he is running in Havana with a group of Cuban jazz musicians, all of which are teachers at ENA --The National School for Music and Art in Havana, Cuba. They are all professional musicians who perform daily in Havana and sometimes outside of Cuba. They recorded this CD together in September 2004. All compositions and arrangements were written by Itai Dattner.

Besides the Cuban project Itai has played and performed in recent years with different groups in Israel, to mention a few: a blues band --TaxiJazz, a jazz trio, a jazz duo, a classical music duo with a cello player, accompanying an opera singer and the list goes on. Itai has performed in clubs, theatres and at the Jazz, Blues and Videotape Festival in Tel Aviv.

Together with 'Tranquilo en Cuba' Itai has recorded four albums. Two albums with TaxiJazz, a mix of standards and original compositions. One of the albums was distributed by NMC, the biggest record company in Israel. He then recorded another standards album with the trio: The Art of Trio.
