Jackson Evans

Jackson was born in northern Utah and began playing guitar at the age of twelve. At fifteen, he attended a concert given by his first teacher, Corey Christiansen. The experience left such an impression he decided to dedicate himself to a career as a jazz guitarist.

Jackson went on to study with legendary educator and author Mike Christiansen before moving to the southeast where he established the regionally known band, Silver Lining with his wife Maggie, a bassist and singer.

Now based in Savannah, Georgia, Jackson is known well known as an in-demand band leader, composer, arranger and accompanist. In addition to touring he has performed in concert series and festivals including an appearance as a featured guest at the Savannah Jazz Festival, and was included as a clinician and performer at the inagural College of Charleston Jazz Guitar Festival.

Credentials/Background

As a teacher, Jackson has spent almost a decade maintaining a full private studio. He has instructed collegiate courses in beginning and intermediate guitar, conducted clinics and seminars and served as a mentor and teacher in secondary schools. He has developed and implemented curriculum for group guitar instruction in community programs. From 2004 Jackson has been on staff at Portman’s Southeast Music Academy where he instructs private lessons, group courses and camps.
