James Apollo

The story of vocalist and bandleader James Apollo is as remarkable as any who perseveres against abject adversity. From a small frontier town, Apollo would watch bands come and go, and it wasn’t long before his own band The Apollo Trio was running on the same circuit, bringing a new take on American jazz and swing to a restless generation. The road proved dangerously fruitful, with the boys getting an education in the rigors of constant travel and the dark side of club life. Apollo himself was hospitalized for 6 months after a harrowing motorcycle accident. The underworld materializes in Apollo’s songs, both as a writer and interpreter of modern and classic standards. His work has been covered by major artists and written fondly about in rags-of-note across the globe. But the most important aspect of The Apollo Trio is the show. The band performs over 200 dates a year and will likely be in your town very soon.
