Jan Allan

Jan Allan (* Jan Bertil Allan on 7. November 1934 in Falun) is a Swedish trumpet player and composer. He also a physicist.

Jan Allen started his career in the 50's as a pianist, then changed to the trumpet as his main instrument. He joined the Carl-Henrik Norin orchestra. During that time, he also earned his doctoral degree as a physicist. Despite the relatively small discography as a leader, Allen is one of the most important jazz musicians in Sweden. During the 1960's he worked with Arne Domnérus, Georg Riedel und Bengt Hallberg. His album 'Jan Allan - 70' won the Golden Record as the Best Swedish Jazz Recording of the Year by the magazine 'Orkester Journalen'
