Janis Görlich

Janis studied Jazzdrums in Berlin (HfM "Hanns Eisler), New York City (Aaron Copland School of Music) and Sao Paulo (Conservatório de Tatuì). He currently lives, plays and composes in Berlin, Germany. His first album as a leader was released in september 2013 on Shoebillmusic. It is entitled "In der Ferne" and features a quintet with musicians from Sweden, Italy and Germany called BUMMELZUG EXPLOSION. The LP is a concept album which is released in two parts. Part Two features a Septet. It will be released in the spring of 2015. Janis' second album as a leader will be released on Vinyl in November 2014. It is entitled "Bei Nacht" (At night) and presents his new trio Kleiner Dicker Mönch. Janis also plays the drums in the band of Dota Kehr, alias Die Kleingeldprinzessin, who in recent years became one of Germanys most famous singer-song-writers. Janis has always been interested in a broad variety of music. A list of bands that he performed in as a sideman contains projects of various stylistics such as: Avant-garde pop band GLÜCKLICH1, The Magnificent Brotherhood (60s garage), Russ Flynn's HasHaveHad, song poet Hans Unstern's Swindle Group and a trio with Carsten Daerr and bassist Carlos Bica.
