ABOUT Jay Reed:

Jay Reed’s style and range in guitar has no limit but one; it’s got to be authentic. Reed’s journey as a musician has been influenced by the classic rock sounds of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, the technical brilliance and inimitable swing of Oscar Peterson, and the more modern sounds of John Scofield and Wayne Krantz, to name just a few.

Reed completed the Mohawk College Applied Music program in Hamilton, Canada, where he studied jazz theory and history, small group and big band arranging, and received ensemble and private guitar instruction with some of the best jazz musicians in Canada. Upon receiving his diploma, he began performing as both a leader and sideman in and around the Toronto area. Over his twenty plus years of performing, Reed has played thousands of gigs, and has presented original music at the Brantford International Jazz Festival, the TD Niagara Jazz Festival, Willowbank Jazz Festival and In The Soil Arts Festival, among others.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
