Jim Armstrong

From solo jazz or classical guitar to jazz combos or larger dance bands, Jim Armstrong takes great pride in the quality and integrity of the music he produces today as a soloist or with various combinations of talented and professional collaborators. With over three decades of experience with rock concert acts, show bands and jazz groups he continues as a dedicated professional musician offering music in a variety of combinations and styles.

Along with his work as a freelance guitarist with small jazz groups or dance bands as well as with larger orchestras, in recent years he has worked diligently at perfecting his skills as the perfect classical guitarist for wedding ceremonies. Playing romantic music on the guitar is a love of his life and lends itself beautifully to many types of occasions.

There is also an effortless transition to the cool sound of electric jazz guitar in the style of his influences, Wes Montgomery, George Benson et al. which serves to complement almost any sophisticated and romantic setting such as fine dining, wedding receptions, private house parties or any occasion that intrinsically is a celebration of life itself. The music can serve as a most appropriate and beautiful soundtrack for your occasion.

Weathering forty years in the music business through a wide variety of musical situations and styles have provided him with a most diverse repertoire and the ability to adapt to any situation or whim. Since his roots are in blues and rock and roll, the classic pop and rock hits of the last 50 years are still in his heart and mind so when the occasion calls for it, the more popular party dance music can be provided as well. And if a piece of music is not in his repertoire the chances are good that it can be easily acquired.

In 1998 Jim met the "icing on the cake" in vocalist Angie Powers. They have been working together ever since, including a four year stint as the entertainment for Gus's Azalea Manor Restaurant in Mobile, Alabama. They have achieved a beautiful blend working together as a duo but often perform with a rhythm section and/or sax as well. In the right setting, with her voice and his guitars - it is a most tasteful and classy way of celebrating life's special occasions.
