John Marley

Performing over 250 gigs a year, John Marley is one of the busiest and most in demand bass players in the UK. Since graduating from the BA (HONS) Degree in Jazz Studies at Leeds College of Music , he has worked with some of the biggest names in British and International jazz such as Julian Siegel, Stu Mccallum (Cinematic Orchestra), Kit Downes, Dennis Rollins, Alex Munk, Eddie Hick, Jamil Sheriff and Joel Purnell.

John is a regular member of many bands including the Kate Peters Septet, The Hitmen and Songs of the Riding's which is led by the award winning saxophonist, Matt Anderson. He is also a respected teacher and arranger, having done arrangements for many bands and musicians across the country. He has appeared on national TV and radio on both the bass guitar and double bass.

Credentials/Background

I am available to provide bass guitar lessons in the York and Leeds areas. I can also provide online bass lessons using Skype. I have many years of experience in private teaching and aim to make the lessons enjoyable for the student. I am happy to teach a range of styles to students of all ages and standards. I am an RGT registered tutor and can therefore prepare students for RGT examinations.
