Josh Paris

First being a member of the Chicago jazz scene, Josh Paris is now an integral member of the New York creative music scene. Originally from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Josh currently resides in New York City. Coming from a musical family, he started playing music as early as he could walk. Once he finally decided that the double bass was his vehicle of choice he started to study the instrument. He has studied with such musicians as Henry Boehm, John Floeter, Joey Sellers, Chris Rosenberg and Jay Anderson.

Current projects that he is working with are: Landon Knoblock Trio/Quartet, The American Jazz Repertory Orchestra, The Awakening Orchestra, The Vito Chiavuzzo Group, Kenji Shinagawa and C Phineas. You can find him playing regularly at venues like Fat Cat, 55 Bar, the Tea Lounge, Spike Hill and many other places in and around the city.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
