Joy Voeth

Joy Voeth is an exuberant world-class vocalist with a soulful and sophisticated sound. Her rich voice and naturally warm presence delight audiences worldwide. Joy’s new album “I Wish You Love” is a collection of jazz classics, recorded in Istanbul with Uraz Kivaner on Piano, Ozan Musluoğlu on Bass, and Ferit Odman on drums. Her 2006 self-titled debut album is a compilation of original neo-Caribbean soul.

Joy embodies her name. A mélange of rhythms, sounds, ideas, and energies, exuberantly expressed through one being. Joy was born into this life on the enchanting Caribbean island of Barbados. She spent her childhood shape shifting between the divergent societies of Barbados and Germany, learning quickly how to adapt to different languages and cultures. Joy spent her early years developing her talents as a classically trained singer, dancer and actor. While attending university in the USA, she immersed herself in jazz. Joy emerges with her own alchemy of sound, calling on all these music traditions, and carrying them into the future on a wave of her own creation. Joy travels the world year-round, performing and recording new music. This winter, Joy returns for her second season at the Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay on the Red Sea in Egypt. In the summertime, she performs nightly at the Kempinski Barbaros Bay in Bodrum on the Aegean coast of Turkey.

Joy is always on the move. While living in New York City, Joy defied gravity, dancing with the Urban Bush Women, a bold and life affirming dance theater ensemble. In Los Angeles, Joy crooned jazz standards with the Verdugo Swing Society and Big Band Theory, both long-standing 17- piece big bands. In New England, Joy created progressive choreopoems with Chrysalis Theatre, a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary performance ensemble. In Munich, Joy moved the masses in nightclubs and music festivals, infusing German nightlife with her energy. In Miami, Joy offered a taste of paradise, as a regular vocalist at landmark venues such as the Fontainebleau Hilton, Loews, and Ritz Carlton.

Along the journey, Joy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Psychology, graduating with highest honors from Smith College. Joy also earned a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University, and became the youngest faculty member and faculty trainer at the University of Phoenix Online.

Joy delights in creating spontaneous beauty and expanding consciousness on this beautiful planet of ours.

"The singer is at the top of her game throughout the album, delivering a performance that is absolutely first rate. Voeth has refined her craft to the point where her vocal melodies are effortless, emotional and deep in the pocket rhythmically. If Voeth keeps putting out albums like this she is well on her way to standing next to the upper echelon of her field." (Matt Warnock, Review You)
