Juanita was born and raised in Medicine Hat Alberta Canada. Her music training started at age five with The Royal Conservatory of Music Canada. She is also trained in jazz, choral presentation and vocal accompaniment. During her youth she continued with her music training and performing which won her many music awards. In the early eighties Juanita attended Anderson University in Anderson IN and won a music scholarship for her second year. Life's circumstances prevented her from returning to Anderson. Along with her academic studies at Anderson Juanita performed in the musical theater and accompanied many of the vocalists in training.
Juanita returned to Medicine Hat in the early 1980's and started a career as a music teacher, ballet accompanist and church pianist. During this time Juanita stared performing at special occasions as a soloist and in various bands. She branched out to southern Alberta where she became referred to as the most talented and requested ballet accompanist in southern Alberta. Using the spontaneity of ballet classes, Juanita discovered the opportunity to improvise, arrange, compose and create music at a moments notice. Juanita, always looking for something new and challenging entered the jazz field and was soon playing keyboards for Lyle Rebbeck(producer of the Medicine Hat Jazz Festival) and his jazz bands. Juanita can best be described as an eclectic Christian Musician playing, traditional, inspirational, jazz, Latin jazz, R&B, Gospel, Hip Hop and light classical.
