Julian Mekler

Julián Mekler is a composer and bassist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Graduated with a Jazz Degree from Manuel de Falla Conservatory, he is an educator currently working in the National University of Arts (UNA-DAM). 2020 Honorary Mention in the National Prizes for the Sciences and the Arts. He participated three times in Centro Cultural Kirchner's Jazz Residencies program where he worked alongside great masters. He is the founder of Buenos Aires based independent record label Isla Desierta Discos, on which he released his two albums, Invasión! (2019) and Vida Útil (2023). He has played and recorded with renowned jazz musicians from Argentina and abroad and also worked with folk groups and chamber music.
