Jussi Lehtonen
Drummer Jussi Lehtonen is an active figure in the Helsinki jazz scene, and he has been playing in the top bands for the past ten years. His playing is known to be energetic, sensitive and swinging, and he can play in many different styles. Lehtonen also leads a few groups under his own name and composes and arranges his own material. His debute cd as a leader (”Firstborn”, Texicalli Records) was released in march 2009.
Lehtonen has recorded two albums for Blue Note with U-Street All Stars and appears on several other recordings. He has toured extensively in Europe, and also in North-America, Japan and Indonesia. Lehtonen has performed and recorded with such familiar names as Randy Brecker, Tim Hagans, Wayne Krantz, Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, Norrbotten Big Band, UMO Jazz Orchestra, Rick Margitza, Jukkis Uotila, Palle Danielsson, Nils Landgren, Scott Kinsey and Marc Bernstein among others.
