Born in New York City, I have been a New Yorker for much of my adult life, although my idyllic summers and many winters of my youth were spent in the deep woods of Minisink Hills, Pennsylvania. My bassist daughter Eleonore Oppenheim still lives in the city, where she performs with Missy Mazzoli's Victoire and other ensembles, and is pursuing a doctorate in music from The State University of New York at Stony Brook.
