In 2006, she completed her studies in improvisation and composition at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in Greenwich Village, NYC. For the last two years, Watson has studied intensely with Blue Note Recording Artist Greg Osby, who continues to support her developing artistry. Since moving to NYC, Watson has formed a sextet with Beth Schenck (alto sax), Mike Pinto (vibes), Megumi Yonezawa (piano), Chris Tordini (bass), and Tommy Crane (drums). Kelly Watson + Five can be heard performing her original compositions on a regular basis in New York City.
