Kevin Wong

An incredibly versatile multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, Kevin Wong gives top priority to the groove in music, whether it’s jazz, funk, soul or gospel. One listen and it is no surprise Kevin has become one of the most in-demand keyboardists in the San Francisco Bay Area. Specializing in keyboard bass, Kevin regularly gets called to fill in for (or even replace) bass players in numerous different local ensembles — while also comping, playing melodies, and taking extended right hand solos.

Born in Palo Alto, CA, Kevin started playing piano in preschool, clarinet in elementary school, tenor saxophone in middle school, and tuba & bass trombone in high school. Inspired by the incredible power of Soulive's Neal Evans' left hand bass lines & enveloping Hammond B3 right hand chords, Kevin quickly assembled his own organ trio in college & started playing organ with the San Francisco State Gospel Choir as well as at churches of various denominations all over the Bay Area.

The rest is history. Since then, Kevin has performed with practically everyone at just about every music venue in the SF Bay Area, as well as touring extensively throughout Japan with Tokyo's #1 bassist Kenji "Jino" Hino. He is currently working with drummer extraordinaire Tommy Igoe, mastermind guitarist Ben Misterka (Collectivity), legendary producer Narada Michael Walden, harmonica virtuoso Fred Yonnet, as well as Adam Theis (Jazz Mafia), Vernon “Ice” Black, Kid Beyond, and Lyrics Born.
