Lars Jakob Rudjord

Lars Jakob Rudjord is a Norwegian pianist and composer. Over the last few years he has established himself as an acclaimed musician on the Norwegian music scene, focusing primarily on his own groups and projects. He has lead his own group “Lars Jakob Rudjord Ensemble” since 2009. He released his first record, entitled “Clockwork”, with LJR Ensemble in 2013. Together with singer Ingvild Koksvik he has toured most of Norway. In 2012 they did a commissioned work together based on Rolf Jacobsen’s poetry, released on the album “Nattåpent” in April 2013.

He has played concerts in Norway and China with saxophone player Frøy Aagre, and over the last year he has also played on the most important Norwegian jazz festivals and in Germany, Spain and the Middle East with the Norwegian world jazz saxophone player Karl Seglem.

Lars Jakob is educated from the University in Oslo (Bachelor’s degree in Musicology) and the Norwegian Academy of Music (Bachelor’s degree in jazz piano and pedagogy).

“Rudjord produces a warm sound with organs, toy piano, synthesizers and prepared piano – just as masterful as Morten Qvenild or Jon Balke.” (Jazznytt, Norwegian Jazz magazine)
