Laura Kahle

Born Jan 20 1979 in Michigan, USA and moved to Australia as a baby where I lived until 2004.
Currently living in Brooklyn, NY, I recently worked with the Danish Radio Big Band in Copenhagen, arranging the music of Jeff “Tain” Watts and Michael Brecker. In 2007 I arranged the mucia of Gil Evans for the Braford Marsalis Septet, performed in the Allen Room, NYC. In 2006 I had two arrangements premiered by Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra featuring Jeff “Tain” Watts in Rose Hall, New York City.
I studied a Bachelor of Music in jazz trumpet with the great John Hoffman and a Master of Music Studies in Composition @ the QLD Conservatorium of Music. “Downstream” was recorded in 2004 with the ten piece ensemble from Brisbane, “West End Composers Collective”.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
