Jazz Pianist and Vocalist South African born jazz pianist and vocalist, Liane Fainsinger has been captivating audiences and peers alike with her musical passion, virtuosity and talents. Her unique styling’s have carved a permanent place for herself in Toronto’s jazz scene, being a favorite act for the last 4 years at Yorkville Summer Music in the Park, as well as local music hot spots such as Relish Bar and Grill, 120 Diner, Gate 403, Hirut Café and was featured at Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. The Liane Fainsinger Trio and Quartet have included music greats such as Don Thompson, Richard Brisco, Brendan Davis, Artie Roth, Alexander Brown, Frank Botos and Bill McBirnie to name a few. Though classically trained, jazz took over Fainsinger’s heart and soul. She soon discovered the teachings of bebop legend, Dr. Barry Harris thanks to Howard Rees’ introduction and participated in Harris’ master classes in multiple cities including New York, Rome and Madrid. In addition, Liane religiously attends Rees’s jazz workshops and it has changed her life forever. But Jazz was not Fainsinger’s only love. For more than a decade, Liane deeply immersed herself into musical theatre and became Music Director and Pianist for more than 25 Civic Light Opera Company Productions like On the Town, Gypsy, and Babe in Arms. Jazz classics emerged from these great shows and they stayed with Liane influencing her dedication to jazz even more. Whether Fainsinger is performing with her duo, trio or quartet, you are sure to be witness to an especially rich jazz experience with this seasoned professional.
