Album Description

A live, improvised conversation between traditional jazz instruments and non-western instruments including Eastern European percussion and the Indian drone instrument held in place by funk bass. This project was recorded as part of HotHouse At PafA After Dark: a concert series of the Philadelphia Jazz Project. The Philadelphia Jazz Project is a sponsored project of the Culture Trust | Greater Philadelphia, with funding provided by The Wyncote Foundation. Live at PafA features performances by Vince Tampio on trumpet, flugelhorn, and percussion, Brian Blaker on tenor saxophone and shaker, Jonathon Colvson on electric bass, Ben Diamond on darbuka, frame drum, and cymbal, and Sarah Robertson on tanpura. In addition to performing, Vince composed and produced all five pieces featured on Live at PafA.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
