Album Description

Gerald Veasley’s new recording, Live at SOUTH is the latest chapter of a multi-decade career of combining the jazz, funk and soul genres into a tantalizing blend of earthy sophistication. Schooled by his mentors Joe Zawinul of Weather Report fame and saxophone giant Grover Washington Jr., the six-string bassist has continued to blur musical boundaries with his latest project. Captured live at the premier jazz venue in Philadelphia, South Jazz Parlor, the recording features Veasley’s outstanding band in a 10 song set of music that is fresh and in-the-moment. The recording also showcases songstress Carol Riddick on a heartfelt rendition of the Philly classic, “You Are Everything”.
