LOUIE SPEAKING EAGLE SARELLANO
A descendant of the Zacatec and Maya Indian Tribes of Mexico, Louie was born Luis Alfonso Sarellano in El Paso’s Segundo Barrio. Musician, traditional man, and public speaker are just a few words that describe Louie Speaking Eagle.
At a young age Louie became immersed in the teachings of Meso-American spiritual traditions. Under the tutelage of a traditional Meso-American teacher and guide, Louie has proceeded down the “Red Road” becoming a Sun Dancer, Sweat Lodge Leader, a Road Man, and a practitioner of the Ketzalkoatl Tradition which teaches to Love and Create Beauty.
Louie was made an Honorary Citizen of the City of El Paso by then mayor Larry Francis and has since continued giving presentations to elementary, middle, high school, and university students on topics ranging from cultural diversity, indigenous customs and traditions, to self-esteem, values, goals, and decision making. Louie has recently returned from delivering a presentation to the University of Iowa: School of Social Work.
Louie Speaking Eagle has performed internationally in a wide of variety of styles and capacities throughout his 20 year career as a professional musician, public speaker, and private instructor.
