Lucious Conway

From Saturday's @ Century Beach Club, "Blue Nights." Smooth-sounding Lucious Conway and his band Xodus provide a little live jazz in a cozy setting under the stars at 161 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach to Paris Blues on Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Blvd. (7th Avenue) Lucious Conway still sounds smooth but his band has changed. Lucious has performed at the historic Baker's Keyboard Lounge in Detroit, MI where he hails from as well as other notable Jazz venues throughout the country, though always folding at the sign of great success or notoriety. At 51 he is well seasoned and well regarded by Jazz musicians and Jazz lovers as well. The Great Jazz pianist and writer of Bing Crosby's first hit single, "I Surrender Dear" back in 1931, and fellow Detroit native, Barry Harris heard Lucious sing and said "You've got IT and you know it!" Every stage, every band, every bar and every club that Lucious has sung in since returning to the New York Jazz scene November of 2013 has enthusiastically invited him back. When you listen to Lucious you will hear so many influences in his voice but you will feel only him and he will move you from laughter to love and all points in between. Listening to Lucious is not only entertaining... it's therapeutic!
