Lucy Galliher

Born in Washington, DC. Graduate of Maret High School, BA in Music from Oberlin College. Received National Endowment for the Arts grant to study jazz piano with Joanne Brackeen. Also studied at BMI Jazz Composer’s Workshop with Manny Albam, Roger Kellaway and Jim McNeely. Studied piano with Art Lande, Mark Levine, Barry Harris, and Hansi Alt. Faculty member at the Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music, 1989-present. Faculty member at Greenwich House Music School, 1992-present. From 1999-2006 East Coast Editor of Jazz Now Magazine. Credits include Broadway (Me and My Girl), cruise ships, and recordings, including: Live at Helen’s, Lucy and Moore, with bassist Don Moore, and Springboard with Chris Potter, Ryan Kisor, Santi DeBriano and Yoron Israel. Recipient of Jazz Now Direct’s CD of the Month award in May, 2000 for production of CD, “Springboard.” Recently performed in various settings at restaurants and clubs such as Helen’s, Montauk Club, The Duplex, Don’t Tell Mama and Rose’s Turn. Currently the Jazz Reviewer for www.cabaretexchange.com.
