Luis Verde

From an early age, Luis Verde (from Cáceres, born 1983) has always had a profound connection with music. Initially classically trained at the Basque Superior Conservatory of Music, MUSIKENE, he went on to specialise and graduate in ‘Jazz Saxophone’.

In 2008, he won first prize with the Citric Trio Group at INJUVE. Following this, he was awarded ‘Best Soloist’ on three occasions, twice in 2009 at the 3rd International Competition of Jazz Soloists in Alcañiz and at the 5th Barcelona Jazz Competition and then again in 2014 at the 6th Extremadura Sonora Music Awards. The release of his debut album ‘World of Distractions’ in 2012 marked the beginning of his career as a soloist. He has just released his second album 'In Lak'ech Hala K'in' with international label, Fresh Sound Records.

Currently, he is part of a new, vibrant and creative generation of Iberian jazz musicians, playing a leading role in Madrid’s contemporary jazz scene. He has participated in a number of projects, among them are: Luis Verde Quartet, Habana/Madrid Sax, Ander García Group, Jerry Gonzalez & Miguel Blanco Big Band, Henry Cole & The Afrobeat Collective, CMQ Big Band, Marcos Collado Septet, Los Wachisneis and the Michael Olivera & Luis Verde Dúo.

He has also toured, recorded and worked alongside the following musicians: Alain Pérez, Jerry Gonzalez, Ariel Brínguez, Micha Olivera, Henry Cole, Soren Moller, Rafael Águila, Luis Guerra, Javier Colina, Marc Miralta, Abert Sanz, Moisés Sánchez, Toni Belenguer, Yuvisney Aguilar, Marcos Collado, Jorge y Maikel Vistel, Ander García, Kumar, Julian Sánchez, Obanilu Ire, Pablo Martín Caminero, Norman Hogue, Reinier Elizarde, Bob Sands, Santi Greco, Juan Luis Puelles, Fernando Hurtado, Roberto Pacheco, Miguel Benito, Borja Barrueta, etc.
