Mama's Cookin

One of Colorado's fastest rising bands, Mama's Cookin' is now hotter than ever. Mixing neo-blues and bottle-neck slide with a touch of hip-hop, The Cookin' has created an innovative new sound. And it's time to take the show back on the road.

Once jazz students at Colorado’s Western State College, the bands that Mama’s Cookin’ has shared the stage with reads like a who’s who of the current musical scene. Bands such as Derek Trucks, Tea Leaf Green, Rebirth Brass Band, Mofro, Ozomatli, Col. Bruce and the Codetalkers, Leftover Salmon, Robert Walter’s 20th Congress, JoJo Herman of Widespread Panic, the Greyboy Allstars, Hairy Apes BMX, Papa Grows Funk, the Motet, and Garaj Mahal.

One thing’s for certain. If Mama’s Cookin’ is playing, the crowd is going wild. The band routinely works audiences into furious dance and, at the end of the night, leaves them clamoring for more. Word has gotten out about their high-energy performances, and Mama’s Cookin’s unique brand of world funk is catching on.

The month of April sees the band embarking on a two and a half month long tour that travels throughout Colorado and the Midsouth. The tour begins in Telluride and has stops in Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma before returning to Colorado. Don't miss The Cookin' when they come to your town.
