Mandy Burry

Residing in downtown Amherst, MA, Mandy served her town and community for several years as a Head Start teacher and labor union leader until choosing to study jazz and African-American music at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2005. After participating in Jazz In July Summer Music Programs at UMASS in 2006 and 2007, Mandy became the assistant director of the program, serving as the acting director for the 2008 summer session.

Mandy is currently writing her own music and lyrics, performing locally, and collaborating with talented local musicians and DJs. She recently formed Pepper's Hygrade, a company designed to promote local music, musicians, and venues through flyering, flyer design, networking, and merchandising.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
