Marco Bittelli

Born in 1967 in Bologna, Italy, Marco Bittelli was 12 when he began playing the guitar. He began seriously studying jazz guitar under the tutelage of Jimmy Villotti, a noted Italian jazz guitarist who recorded with Paolo Conte, Francesco Guccini, W. Dockery and Bobby Durham. He went on to perform widely with professional trumpet player Riccardo Pittau. In 1992 he traveled to Los Angeles, California to take workshops from legendary jazz guitar greats Joe Pass and Joe Diorio. He moved to the West Coast of the United States in 1996 and began playing regularly in the Washington State University Big Band and a series of jazz combo and quartets. In 2000 he moved to Germany, where he performed with Brasilian guitarist Sergio Iglesias and pianist Vito Palumbo. He currently splits his time between Italy and the United States. He recorded three CD's of original composition with Pacific Coast Jazz.
