Marco Marotta

Marco Marotta (born in Agrigento, Italy, in 1991) is a professional freelance saxophonist, clarinet player, composer and music tutor based in London. He is active in different genres such as Jazz, blues, funk, fusion, ambient, soul, rock and free improvisation.

Marco initially studied classical saxophone for three years. But afterwards, he decided to turn his musical interests into the Jazz world. He obtained his Jazz bachelor degree at the conservatory “Vincenzo Bellini” of Palermo, Italy (2014). Then moved to London in September 2015 and achieved the Jazz master degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama” (2016). He took part in several masterclasses with prominent musicians of the Jazz scene: Joe Lovano, Seamus Blake, Steve Grossman, Dino Govoni, Danilo Rea, Emanuele Cisi, Francesco Cafiso, Max Ionata, Jerry Weldon, Marco Tamburini.

He performed in festivals such as Langnau Jazz Nights (Switzerland, 2013), Brentwood festival (Brentwood, UK, 2018), Basel blues fest (Basel, Switzerland, 2018), Cheltenham Jazz Festival (Cheltenham, UK, 2019), Isle of Wight Festival (2019) and many others.

He toured in Hong Kong and China (Guangzhou and Beijing) for the launch of the NTBM album “And orange” (October 2017).

In the meantime, he held his first saxophone masterclass in Hong Kong.

In 2019 he toured in the UK with Georgia & The Vintage Youth, supporting the band Collabro, performing in venues like Birmingham Symphony Hall, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Manchester Bridgewater Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London.
