Marielle de Rocca-Serra is a violinist, vocalist and actor born in France in the early eighties. After completing her classical education in conservatory programs in Nice, Paris and Rotterdam, she joined the hot jazz community in Paris where she learned the specific genre, enriched by her classical-infused sound and technique. In 2006 she moved to Chicago, where she became funding member of the gypsy jazz band "lePercolateur" alongside Sam Random and Stacy McMichael. She soon started to perform with other jazz bands in the city (Alfonso Ponticelli and Swing Gitan, Paul Marinaro, Paris La Nuit) at mythical clubs like the Green Mill, Katerina's, or the Jazz Showcase among others. She also regularly performed in NYC with Spiros Exaras, the Carte Blanche ensemble and the Avalon Jazz Band. As an actor, she stars in films like "American Slice" by Boris Wexler, "Viva La Libertà" by Roberto Ando, and performs the part of Alice Liddle on stage with the Chicago Opera Vanguard in the American Premiere of "Boojum: Truth, Lies and Lewis Caroll". In 2013, she moves to Paris where she funds "The Swing Factory", a vintage Hot Jazz Band alongside Romain Constant. She is also the leader of the Trip Hop Band "The Felt Mountains".

On Expectation & Experience, his tenth recording as a leader, Chicago-based woodwind specialist Shawn Maxwell is accompanied by almost thirty musiciansbut never by more than three on any of its seventeen tracks. Maxwell says the compositions were written during the global Covid-19 pandemic, and the musicians were mustered singly, most in their own homes. While each of the compositions has a theme," none is readily apparent from its performance, and listeners should feel free to overlook that aspect and focus ...
"Pop Manouche presents a band that drinks from the Quintette du Hot Club
de France's well, yet finds sustenance in other musical realms. This stylistic
openness contributes to the success of the hybridized music that
lePercolateur produces". DAN BILAWSKY, All About Jazz
Pop Manouche the debut full-length album by the Chicago-based group Le
Percolateur is an impressive and fun album that continues the revived
interest in the style of Django Reinhardt and adds a strong streak of musical
eclecticism. GEORGE GRAHAM
"The nuanced manner in which pop and folk styles are interlaced remind one
of the fine work of Mumford & Sons. With ace production and a wonderful
group dynamic, one can only hope to hear that there are many more
recordings to come from lePercolateur."
