Marina Makarova

MARINA MAKAROVA is Russian born jazz pianist. She began playing piano with classical studies at the age of six, later on progressing to jazz.

In 2003 Marina graduated from the Arkhangelsk Regional College of Music, Russia, with Honors. Ms. Makarova was accepted to the renowned Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow in 2005. Graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2009 with a degree in jazz piano, her mentors included superb Russian performers like Igor Bril and Alexander Oseichuk. While attending the Academy Marina's career got a jump start .

Ms. Makarova performed at the «Jazz in Tver Festival» (2006), «Arkhangelsk Jazz Days» (2006), «Jazz on Volga» in Yaroslavl (2007), and the «Rabarbra Jam Festival» in Kirkenes and Bugøynes, Norway (2006). As a member of the Funky Soul Group, she performed at the «7th Annual Usadba Jazz Festival» (2009), «Mystery of Blues» International Festival (2009), «Moscow International Blues Festival» in Lefortovo (2009), and the «Don Chento Jazz Festival» in Kaliningrad (2008).

As a member of the Trombone-show she appeared at the «Annual Jazz Cruise Ship Festival» (2010) and at «Jazz at the Hermitage Garden» in Moscow (2010).

Marina Makarova creates her own musical arrangements and solo improvisations, as well as composes original music. She is constantly exploring new sounds and musical ideas, which consistently inspire her musical creativity.

Marina Makarova has received standing ovations on some of Moscow's most prestigious music venues, such as the Central House of Arts, Pyotr Fomenko Moscow Theater, Concert Hall «Orchestrion», Theatre Center on Strastnoy Bulvar.

Recent tours have put Marina on the stage of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, Kitano, Iridium and Birdland jazz clubs.
