Marti Mendenhall Marti Mendenhall

Marti Mendenhall is quickly gaining momentum as a Performer, Songwriter, Producer and Podcast Host. She is a magnetic, engaging performer, whose live shows are entertaining and original. Marti sings a catalog of Jazz standards and Jazz-Pop originals. Recently featured in Oregon Music News, her meaningful lyrics are often compared to Stacey Kent, and her scat solos are on par with Karrin Allyson and John Pizzarelli. She artfully combines her training in vocal performance, classical piano, and vocal improvisation with a new and fresh take in the world of jazz-pop.

Marti Mendenhall keeps expanding her talents into new projects and compositions. After honing her interview chops in 2017 with Portland Radio Project, her passion for music and great food has given rise to a new podcast called Marti's Music Kitchen - Where Anything Can Happen! Her love of all Holidays contributed to the release of her first Christmas Holiday Original, “Here I Am Home.” Her directing debut came with the release of the Here I Am Home Video, which was written and produced by Mendenhall.

An Oregon native with a bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance from University of Northern Colorado, Marti's strongest influences come from both contemporary and classic artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Karrin Allyson and John Pizzarelli. She has headlined and served as a clinician at both the 'Boise State' and 'Jazz in Jacoby' Jazz Festivals, has arrangements published at UNC Jazz Press, and lists other highlighted performances at Portland 5, the Jack London Revue, Tony Starlight's Supper Club and the famed Jimmy Mak’s in Portland. She also performed the LIVE benefit concert that gave rise to her first CD: “An Evening of Live Jazz”, released her second EP, “View From Here,” in 2015, presented her Master Class and Vocal Improvisation workshop at National and Pacific Northwest venues, and was a regular soloist for the renowned Oregon Repertory Singers for over 17 years.

Her performance ... was entertaining, inspirational and instructive ... a singer with a solid classical technique who is able to make daring and skillful improvisations. As a clinician, Mendenhall was enthusiastic and encouraging, offering specifics to improve the performances of the school choirs ... All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
