Marzio Scholten

Marzio Scholten (born on June 17th 1982 in Granollers, Spain, and raised in the Netherlands) is regarded as one of the most talented and promising modern jazz guitarists and composers in Europe.

In 2006 he graduated from the world renowned Conservatory of Amsterdam. ‘Motherland’, his critically acclaimed CD and debut as a leader, was released in June of 2008. With this CD Marzio has proven to already be one of Holland’s leading jazz guitarists. In 2009 he was nominated for the prestigious Deloitte Jazz Award and selected as ‘Artist Deserving Wider Recognition’ by Stichting JazzNL.

Marzio has played his music on many important stages and festivals in his homeland as well as abroad. Some examples are: North Sea Jazz Festival, Bimhuis, Vredenburg, Royal Theatre Carré en The Hague Jazz. His international tours have led him to Berlin, Hamburg, Athens, Nicosia and Miami. Tours to India, Serbia and Mexico are scheduled for the near future.
