Max Hoenig

Max is a pianist, keyboardist, composer, and educator with experience in a wide breadth of musical styles, specializing in jazz. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was surrounded by music from an early age, studying everything from percussion to cello and voice but ultimately focusing on the piano. In high school he had the great opportunity to study under artists such as trumpeter Terence Blanchard, bassist Christian McBride and saxophonist Odean Pope as well as the chance to perform at the legendary Academy of Music with Paul Simon. In 2017, Max began touring internationally with the grammy- nominated soul group, The Stylistics. This year marks their 50th anniversary.

Max is currently a teacher at the Gibson School of Music, and has experience teaching in the School District of Philadelphia through the Pennsylvania Arts in Education Partnership. He has a creative and individualized lesson plan for all of his students. Making sure the student is interested and engaged in the music is absolutely essential. He offers a more in depth approach in understanding the theory behind music so students will be able to learn to compose as well.
