MeVsMyself

MeVsMyself is a Voice Solo project created by Giorgio Pinardi, an italian experimental vocalist. His work is based on improvisation inspired by many different music cultures and traditions. Voice becomes rhythm, harmony and melody in order to create a new language in which phonemes, onomatopeic sounds and meaningless words aim to create soundscapes, to mention recollections, leading to universally shared emotions.

Mictlàn is composed of hundreds of tracks in which Voice is pushed to the limit, within and beyond its possibilities. The whole album is improvised and then edited in studio, adding small electronic manipulations to imagine a futuristic use of Voice. “It’s very important to keep it real even in studio, using improvisation as a tool to stimulate creative composition and the inner music expression”, says Giorgio, “I search for timbres rarely used and explored, phonemes hard to be considered or used, to find my own expression and musical path towards something new and extremely original”. MeVsMyself tries to connect extended vocal techniques with improvisation following the path traced by artists such as Demetrio Stratos and Bobby McFerrin, mashed up in a new form of expression with a world music taste. Giorgio included in his work a large variety of sounds and influences: from classical to modern, from ethnic to electronic music, always trying to express his unique point of view.

His second album marks the continuation of a solo career that started in 2013, since then he performed in many festivals and gigs, always welcome with surprise and amazement by the audience.

Given the inspiration for the project, it should not be surprising that Pinardi draws on a wide variety of vocal traditions from all over the world. The process is ...
