Mike Finkel is a composer/songwriter/educator and performer...

He has performed and/or recorded with: Marc Cohn, David “Fathead” Newman, Hank Mobley, April Smith and the Great Picture Show, Julie Peel, Michael Bolton, Delbert McClinton, Grover Washington Jr., Elliott Randall, Summer Ames, Lee Greenwood, Richie McDonald (Lone Star), Norman McGill, Daniel Lawrence Walker, Arlo Guthrie and many others. His compositions have been featured on many TV Shows/Commercials and Films including The Orange Bowl, MLB All-Star Game, NCAA Basketball on NBC and commercials by Pepsi, Frito Lay and Radio Shack. Mike is currently working on a project with LucasFilms and is also half of the musical group Hello India Calling. http://helloindiacalling.bandcamp.com/.

On 08/08/2008, Mike and Norman McGill launched the group, Hello India Calling. The first song is a cover of the 80s classic “Take On Me” by a-Ha. The group has been labeled with the electromagneticemofolk genre tag.

Mike plays every month at Times Ten Cellars in Dallas, TX. He can also be seen every Sunday Night at Lounge Here in the Lakewood neighborhood.

Mike has worked as a mentor with singer/songwriters all over the world. Mike ran a popular online songwriting group from 2005-2008 that included many currently well known singer/songwriters who were just starting out at that time including; Ingrid Michaelson, Laura Jansen, Amber Rubarth, William Fitzsimmons, Rob Giles, Allie Moss, Lady Gaga (very briefly) and many others. He was selected to be on the team that developed a Jazz Curriculum for IAJE and has also served as the Interim Jazz Chair for WPPC for 2 years.
