David Janesh

Born/raised in Youngstown Ohio. Studied music (classical accordion) from age 9-20 with "Mickey Bisilia" - one of the instruments most renouned teachers. Competed and won various national competitions thoughout those years.

I play the Giulietti Bassetti Free Bass instrument.Have always had a major interest in Jazz, favorite artists/major influences were Tommy Gumina, Art Van Damme, Charles Mangnante, Bill Evans.

Formed and played in small combo groups throughout my college years where I majored in Electrical Engineering (B.S, from Youngstown State and M.S. from University of Virginia). While in my "day job" I Have been a defense intelligence industry professional (starting as an analyst and progressing to Senior Program Manager) for almost 30 years (1979 till present). I "Fooled around" with piano (self taught) comping the guitar parts for various church functions, but mostly left music idle for many years (25+).

My interest was strongly rekindled around 2000 though regular attendance at the former "Buddies Jazz Pub" on North Charles St in Baltimore. I have subsequently taken piano lessons (with Ashton Fletcher) and have been begun playing again (Piano) in various small jazz combos. Currently I have organized the "Dave Janesh Trio" and we have a regular gig in Ellicott City, MD (Tiber River Tavern) with Steve Yankee on Guitar, and Paul Bagwell on Bass - and on ocassion guest artist Vernon Wolst.

I enjoy supporting and listening to jazz in the local area and frequently (when not playing) go to the Caton Castle, BJA events, or any number of various jazz performance events and concerts, including those connected with Ashton Fletcher's music enterprise.

I am currently working on re-capturing my "chops" on accordion, and have several Jazz accordion projects in the works!

Stay tuned!i continue to work on piano, with the study of Bill Evans voicings and concepts as my major interest.I am Looking forward to many continued years of playing and listening to Jazz.
