Scott Samenfeld
Samenfeld also performs with a 16 piece big band. The Sounds of Swing Orchestra has been performing throughout New England for almost 20 years. He's been a member of the rhythm section for over 15 years.
He was very active as a music teacher for many years and taught music theory and Jazz guitar at the Guitar Workshop in Boston during the 70’s as teaching Jazz ensemble and instrumental music at the Cambridge School in Weston and The Open Road School in Waltham during that period as well.
Samenfeld has been working in Information Technology for the past 20 odd years. His focus has been on composing and performing my music rather than having to take general business gigs to survive. He still enjoy teaching very much and hope to return to teaching down the road.
A few bands from his past include:
“Razzamatazz” – An original music group from the early 70’s.
“Trillium” – an Avante Guarde Jazz trio that played around Boston in the days of Michaels Pub and the 1369 Jazz Club. We were also prominent in the Loft Jazz movement of the mid-70’s.
“Favela” – a Brazilian jazz group from the mid-70’s that was headed by Edgir Passos and included Jorge Arce.
“Ibrahima’s World Beat” (2000-2001) – Ibrahima Camara’s world music band that played events such as Boston’s First Night and the Cambridge River Festival.

Credentials/Background
I teach jazz guitar and bass using my own method in part based on the materials I got from Harry Lahey who was a great guitar teacher in the NJ area. I have put together a system that utilizes carefully selected jazz tunes that best exemplify the concept that is the subject of the lesson. We explore modal and glues concepts along with multi-tonal center systems and the diminished universe. I combine this "applied theory" approach with a systematic approach to chord forms and scales
