Pam Fleming

Pamela Fleming is an exceptionally emotional and liquidly lyrical trumpet / flugelhorn player and composer. (www.fearlessdreamer.com)

A native New Yorker, and Eastman School of Music Grad, Pamela Fleming is a musician with worldwide influences. Her deeply heartfelt style blends a musical pallet full of melodic emotion. Evocative and tender, passionate and powerful... Pamela has delighted fans worldwide, with Fearless Dreamer, Hazmat Modine, Metropolitan Klezmer, Isle Of Klezbos, Jam Band Gov't Mule, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Bonnie Raitt (VH1 Storytellers), Burning Spear, Maxi Priest, Arrow (wrote "Hot Hot Hot"), Buster Poindexter aka David Johansen (made "Hot Hot Hot" more famous), Bruce Springsteen, Robert Palmer, Cab Calloway,Diva Big Band, The Mel Lewis Big Band, Patrick Moraz (Keys with Yes, Moody Blues), Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers, "Little" Jimmy Scott (Sessions at 54th St. on PBS), ....and the list goes on. From rock and roll, jazz and reggae, funky groove, to classical and world music, her style transcends description.

Besides leading her original group, Fearless Dreamer, Pam is a regular member of New York's eclectic world-blues group Hazmat Modine, (who have been touring Europe since 2007, and were #2 on Europe's World Music charts!), and also with Klezmer ensembles Metropolitan Klezmer and The Isle Of Klezbos. Pam is featured on all of these groups recordings.

In 1991 she formed Fearless Dreamer. Their self entitled debut CD explores the spectrum from "trance to dance". Pam's voice adds an additional texture to the moody dreamscapes she weaves. You can hear more of Pam's original world jazz compositions on their 2nd release, "Climb". (The title track was written for the tragic events of Sept 11, 2001.)

In 2014,Pam Fleming's Dead Zombie Band released an all-original spooky Halloween CD, "Rise and Dance", featuring some of New Yorks' finest jazz and world music musicians. Quite a treat, if you like Halloween!

Although these recordings are mostly instrumental, lyrics are very important to Pam, as her influences are mainly singers, like Jon Anderson, Joni Mitchell, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Seal, Annie Lenox, . . . - the harmonies of Dan Fogelberg, Crosby-Stills-Nash & Young, Grateful Dead, and the progressive / classical rock groups: Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer. Other inspirations come from Oregon, Paul McCandless, Jan Garbarek, Kenny Wheeler, Paul Winter, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Lee Morgan, Mussorgsky, Debussy, Ravel and Bartok.

After graduating from the Eastman School of Music, Pamela moved to New York City in 1980, and soon formed THIRD WIND with fellow Eastman musician, Paula M. Kimper, performing their original horn influenced pop songs. Shortly after, she became part of a minimalist / eclectic synth ensemble called ANOMY performing at venues such as New York City's Mudd Club and The Kitchen. This music highlighted Pam on electric trumpet, synthesizer and spoken word.

Your sound is smokin' on both horns!!! Thanks for the great healing music—— Ray Vega

Pam's first CD, ‘Fearless Dreamer’, was a lush, romantic adventure in sonic seduction. This one dares to go everywhere, in a good way! ‘Climb’ comprises bouncy roots reggae, thoughtfully ambient ‘soundtrack’ melodies, pop songs, funk-infused grooves and a little late-night blues. Pam brings it all together‘fearlessly’! Pam's the rare jazz feline who writes songs, not just riffs that go around and around and around. She‚s got a gorgeous, clear tone on trumpet and flugelhorn that‚s powerful and soulful . - Alan Young
