Alexandru Anastasiu

Music means nothing without the rythm, and this is something Alexandru Anastasiu has learned in his early childhood years, when he began studying piano. Later on he turned to percussion, series of instruments which in time have become a true passion. Hours in front of marimba and vibraphone have led him to be one of the best players in his country. As a percussion player, Alexandru Anastasiu has performed in orchestras, chamber music groups, percussion ensemble GAME and as soloist in concerts which were very much appreciated. Winner of Yamaha Scholarship in 2001 and granted with many prizes during his study years, Alexandru has developed a special love for vibraphone. He has been employed in several professional orchestras ( Giurgiu, National Opera Orchestra from Bucharest, Chamber Radio Orchestra Bucharest) he is now member of the National Radio Orchestra of Bucharest. Together with his coleagues he participated in three editions of the International Festival George Enescu. His training as a professional musician and his capacity of understanding the music were ones of the reasons he was invited to be member of the jury in important competitions ( National Percussion Contest " Bucharest, 2003, “Mihail Jora” National Competition " Bucharest, 2001). Alexandru Anastasiu has also worked as assistant teacher at the Music University of Bucharest where he had the opportunity to share his experience and musical thoughts with younger percussion students. Being involved in many projects, he is an activ jazz musician, colaborating with important bands as “Marius Pop Band”, “Nicolas Simion and the Wild Dogs”, “Andreea Pauta Band”. Alexandru improved his tehnique and musical knowledge by studying with Bogdan Bacanu and Peter Sadlo, attending their masterclasses. His music is unique, the sound and phrase construction making the listeners believe that music is not only melody, but melody and rythm together.
