Axel Herr

Axel Herr is a German virtuoso pianist and composer. His musical vita started as young teenager when he was playing the piano in a boogie band. With his early classical piano etudes he even won a composition contest at the age of 15! Later on Axel Herr developped a very special and unique improvisation style on his piano combining jazz and classical elements.

"The Voice Of December" was his first semi-professional production recorded already in winter 2000/2001. All tracks featured on this album were played in a live-style atmosphere straight to disk without any overdubs! Many copies on CD-R were sold just by word-to- mouth recommendation without any marketing! Being out of stock for over two years Tunimedia proudly signed Axel Herr for an online-only re-release of these unique, exceptional improvisations in 2007.

The album "Worlds Inside" (released October 1st, 2008) is a collection of piano songs that were recorded during 1994 and 1996. Extremely stunning is the fact how these songs were created: even though they sound like well composed works they are all 100 % pure improvisations. There were no overdubs, no edits and no corrections at all. Axel Herr, a very creative piano player with original skills, says that all ideas came just in the minute they were played - he even could not repeat his performances.

Whereas his "Voice Of December" album (released 2007) combines more elements from jazz and classics the album "Worlds Inside" is much more catchy and pleasingly. But again all tracks featured on this album were played in a live-style atmosphere and recorded straight to disk.
