Dan Moniz & The Bossa Ensemble

Dan’s journey from São Paulo, Brazil to Los Angeles, California has afforded him with ample opportunities to explore various genres and instruments; however, the guitar remains one of his favorites. Picking up the guitar at the age of six, thousands of chords have passed over his guitar in the past 24 years.

Born in São Paulo, Dan moved to the United States when he was 16. Aside from Los Angeles, California where he now calls home, Dan has also lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and San Francisco, California where he was able to immerse himself in the local music and cultures.

His sounds vary, covering such genres as Flamenco, Middle Eastern, R&B, Funk, Boss nova, Bolero, Classical and Rock. The mood can range from up beat to romantic, but always with a touch of his passion for the music.

Even though there are many different genres to play with an acoustic guitar, his favorite remains a unique sound, which happens to be a cross between Brazilian music and Flamenco.

Dan enjoys meeting with musicians from all walks of life trying to find a way to express themselves through music. With music, he’s constantly trying to challenge himself “To figure out the unknown and create something new from the imagination.”
