Terry Medeiros is an award winning professional Jazz and Blues guitarist, private guitar and ukulele instructor, music composer and music producer. He has performed at venues such as The Fillmore West, Concord Pavilion, Starlight Amphitheatre, Doheny Blues Festival, Doug Weston’s Troubadour, The Whiskey (a go-go). He has shared the stage with Ella Fitzgerald, Bonnie Raitt, Herbie Hancock, Freddy Fender, Chuck Berry, Mary Wells, Tommy Sands, Nolan Porter, Martin Mull, Jack Temption and many others. He has released seven albums to date and his current projects include a blues duo “The Count & Colonel” and a jazz trio with the ever-energetic Chris “Pops” Banta. As a music educator he has taught hundreds of students how to play the guitar and ukulele. For beginning guitarists he teaches the “Hal Leonard Guitar Method” books 1, 2 & 3. For ukulele students, “How To Pick & Strum the Ukulele” By H.M. Kimura is the method of choice. For intermediate, advanced and pro-guitarists Terry uses a variety of methods along with handouts containing theory, technique and repertoire depending on the current needs of the student.
Terry primarily is a self-taught guitarist. He has taken music classes at the University of Hawaii and San Francisco State University. Throughout his career he has studied with and been mentored by many great musicians. With great fondness and respect Terry would like to especially thank Al Vescovo and Mike Saluzzi for their invaluable musical contributions and input over the years.
