Acoustic trio / solo (today) "My intention, in acoustic trio, is to approach a new sound and to create so a link between my experienceof classic scene and that more recent of my precede quartet Jazz of the world. Take up with my Bayan (classic accordion) while creating a dialogue World-Jazz with the saxophone and the percussions enriched my conception of the accordion and my creation. Indeed, the very grave basses of the keyboard left hand of Bayan, its profound tone and its multiple stamps allow a sound universe in trio which can replace the intervention of a bass player. So, to ally the musical requirement to the pleasure of the scene(stage) is a constant and exciting challenge. Diego Fano (saxophone and clarinet) and Yann Pajean (percussions), companions(journeymen) of creation and scene(stage) participate magnificently by their big talent in this artistic collection. I thus have the pleasure to propose you JACQUES PELLARIN ACOUSTIC TRIO for a friendly concert with a program of crossed and colored personal compositions, an invitation in the journey, the music served by a really very original formation. " Album Sound of Philadelphia - Jacques Pellarin trio - 2009
Jacques PELLARIN - BAYAN (classical accordion) Diego FANO - Saxophones soprano (alto and clarinet) Yann PAJEAN - Percussions (Conga drums caron-bongos - carillon - drum kit with snare drum - cymbal - charleston...) Through my compositions, I invite the public to discover an accordion chameleon, outside clichés "accordeon music", which crosses by very eclectic styles as the nuevo tango, the rumba, the sound, and the other Latin rhythms, the milonga, the waltz swing, the sertao and the samba of the brésil, the ballad-jazz, the music inspirations of the Balkans or the Yiddish fleurtant with the Jazz and the other surprises of more classic spirit ". Jacques Pellarin Quartet: Sup Dude
by Raul d'Gama Rose
The world of Jacques Pellarin's music, especially on his Sup Dude, is brimming with the ecstasy of his ancient Bayan, that superb button accordion that swings and swerves as Pellarin coaxes the most extraordinary, absolutely joyful sounds out of it. His playing is reminiscent of both harmonicist Toots Thielmans and Hammond B3 organist Jimmy Smith at once. These may sound like strange bedfellows, but Pellarin plays with a sublime sense of chromatic ingenuity when he etches out single note lines ...

French accordionist and composer Jacques Pellarin has the welcome ability to craft music which is technically challenging, yet immediately accessible and engaging. Sup Dude is a joyous album, filled with refreshingly unpretentious tunes performed with skill and obvious pleasure by his quartet--a pleasure readily communicated to others. Sup Dude follows 2010's self-produced trio date, Karenita, adding to that album's winning mix of jazz, Latin and folk music with another collection of tunes in a similar vein. Pellarin ...

Karenita is the second album from the Jacques Pellarin Trio, following 2009's self-produced The Sound Of Philadelphia. It's a charming collection of lively, optimistic and happy tunes, played with exceptional style by this French ensemble; a real gem of an album that constantly surprises and delights. The album sleeve gives a clear and welcoming indication of the Trio's musical approach, thanks to some charming artwork from Lucas Pellarin. The cover illustration features the trio's members as young ...

by Raul d'Gama Rose
Sound of Philadelphia is not a novelty record--one that some critics might dismiss as world music. Jacques Pellarin's music is inflected with myriad cultural influences, so this rather empty epithet is likely to be used on the composer. This labeling is especially tough on an artist who is as seriously talented as the French/Basque musician. Pellarin is a master of the bayan, a Russian, chromatic button accordion developed in the early 20th century that is deceptively easy to play, and ...
