Peter Douskalis

Peter Douskalis is a musician, orchestrator, songwriter, and educator and is the cofounder and Project/Music Director of the groups Sounds of Cyprus and PANEL. He is a substitute guitarist on the Broadway shows The Lion King and Hamilton. He has published three academic articles in education journals and has given two TEDx Talks on multicultural music and intercultural music education. He is also the author of the "Essential Elements Guitar Ensembles: Multicultural Songs" by Hal Leonard Corporation and is a participating musician on the Grammy nominated ‘Caroline, or Change’ New Broadway cast album (2022).

His first release "Midnight Madrid" is with the Peter and Alex Guitar Duo. This independent release explorers areas of flamenco, Greek, classical, jazz, and pop styles of music and the guitar. His second release "The Dance of the Sea" on Shenandoah Records is a solo jazz guitar compilation of arrangements and original tunes. The CD has received national and international acclaim by: Just Jazz Guitar Magazine, Jazz Journal (UK), Los Angeles Jazz Scene, Cadence Magazine, JazzChicago.net, JazzCDReviews.com, and more.

Peter Douskalis will be presenting a paper at the 30th International Society for Music Education World Conference in Thessaloniki, Greece on July 15-30th 2012. The paper is an academic philosophical research article on the development of multicultural curriculum for music education programs around the globe.
